Police have released the name of a man who was killed in a wind storm on the Gold Coast on Wednesday afternoon.

Mark Bayliss, 47, of Surfers Paradise was on the first floor of a building on Elkhorn Avenue when he was hit by glass and a piece of flying metal that shattered a window.

Police said the piece of metal had been torn off another building then hit the window and Mr Bayliss.
