Greenfest 2009 shines on Brisbane | Gold Coast Music | Music Reviews, Concerts and Bands in Gold Coast

THE 60,000 Queenslanders who attended Greenfest 2009 - Australia's largest free green festival - over the Queen's Birthday weekend were treated to an amazing three days of fun, colour, music and art under impeccable Brisbane skies, with the popular consensus being the event was an incredible success.

Staged in the lush tropical landscapes of the City Botanic Gardens, the festival was a celebration of all things green and environmental, featuring over 50 musical acts, 150 exhibitors, 50 speakers, a film festival and a green motor show.

After a week of dreary rain, the atmosphere around the gardens was something to behold, as Brisbanites of all ages soaked up the beautiful winter weather and the smorgasbord of entertainment on show.

Ash Grumwald, Jeff Lang, Tame Impala, Hungry Kids of Hungary and The Boat People were just a few of the bands that performed. A massive crowd turned out on Saturday night to see Perth band Tame Impala play a blistering set of psychadelic jams, followed by blues'n'roots extradordinaire Ash Grumwald who set the night alight with his foot-stomping electric blues.

The crowds were back again on Sunday, with more beautiful weather ensuring spirits stayed high. Kids were kept well entertained with activities ranging from rock climbing, bungie swings, xbox games, painting classes and juggling all available.

Meanwhile for the bigger kids, the world's first electric sports car, the Tesla Roadstar, turned heads while demonstrations on new technologies such as solar cookers and home wind turbines had plenty of interest as well.
