Missing bank manager found

A MISSING bank manager who disappeared amid an investigation into irregularities at his north Queensland branch has been found and faces stealing charges.

Colin John Carleton, 55 who managed the Atherton branch of Bendigo Bank, went missing on July 13.

He disappeared the day before he was due to have a meeting with financial crime investigators for the bank.

The bank lodged an official complaint to police on Thursday that $3.1 million had disappeared from its Atherton branch.

Police located the man at 5.30pm (AEST) on Sunday at a camping ground at Cape Tribulation.

He has been charged with one count of stealing from a financial institution.

He will appear at Mareeba Magistrates Court on Monday.
