Police issue abduction alert

QUEENSLAND police are appealing for help to find two children who may be at risk after being taken by a man in far north Queensland on Thursday night.

QUEENSLAND police are appealing for help to find two children who may be at risk after being taken by a man in far north Queensland on Thursday night.

An abduction alert issued by police said Simon "Sam" Elmas was believed to be travelling in a 1996 grey Volvo sedan with 15-year-old Kai Elmas and 11-year-old Romany Elmas.

The children were last seen being driven away by Mr Elmas in Mareeba at 8pm (AEST) on Thursday.

Mr Elmas, 57, is described as Mediterranean in appearance, 183cm tall, with a medium build and short, greying brown hair.

The boy is of a similar height and is also described as Mediterranean in appearance, with a fair complexion, short brown hair and brown eyes.

The girl has a fair complexion and is 130cm tall, with long, brown hair, brown eyes and is of a proportionate build.

The Volvo sedan has Queensland registration plates 461 DHS.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information to contact police on 131 564 and not to approach the car or Mr Elmas.
